First few days:

• Leave the clear dressing on for 3-5 days.

• There may be a build up of plasma and excess ink under the dressing, this is normal and helps with the healing process.

• If the dressing leaks or lifts off the skin, remove it immediately to avoid contamination. (if bits can get out, other nasty bits can also get in)

• If you notice any unpleasant skin reactions, remove the dressing. Reactions can include redness, aches, itching. Contact me if you are unsure.

• To remove, peel up a corner of the dressing while you are under the shower. Pull the film off slowly by holding the skin taut and pulling the film away from the tattoo. Pull across the skin, not up and away from the skin.

• After removal wash the tattoo with unscented soap and warm water. Pat dry with a clean paper towel or let it air dry. Once dry, use a small amount of aftercare cream.

• Sometimes a small amount of adhesive residue stays on the skin - don’t stress, that can happen. Don’t scrub it or pick at it, it’ll come off in the next days by washing the tattoo and using aftercare cream.

For the next two weeks:

• Wash tattoo once a day with warm soapy water.

• Lightly moisturise with aftercare cream 2-3 times a day with clean hands until no longer dry or flaky. 

Important:

Make sure to really only use a thin layer of aftercare cream. Tattoos need to be able to breathe and too much cream can cause irritation. Use aftercare cream specifically made for tattoos. Do not use Bepanthen/ Pawpaw/ Vaseline/ Coconut Oil. 

General healing tips:

Do:

• Wear sunscreen on your tattoos once fully healed, so after the 2 week period.

• Keep your tattoos moisturised.Contact me whenever you have a question regarding your tattoo. 

Don’t: 

• Pick or scratch tattoo.

• Soak in water for 2 weeks (no swimming, baths, sauna, steam room).

• Use tanning creams for 2 weeks. 

• Let pets touch your fresh tattoo.

• Excessive exercise on tattooed area for 2 weeks. 

• Put your tattoo in direct sunlight.
